She Emerge Global Magazine

Hunt is a former world number one with the compound bow, but switched to recurve in 2010 in a bid to qualify for the Rio 2016 Olympics.

She has since moved into the top three in Britain and has competed at World Cups, but will be experiencing a major championship for the first time with the new bow.

“The main factor is going to be the heat. It’s going to be up to 40 degrees on some days and at altitude,” she said.

“We have cooling strategies and we’ll do the best we can.”

Britain has a full team of male and female archers across compound and recurve in Armenia.

South Korean coach Songi Woo was recruited by GB Archery last year in a bid to improve performances.

She led her own nation to world championship success in 2009 and helped Mexico secure their first ever Olympic medals in archery at London 2012.

“She’s brought a Korean approach. They are the best shooters in the world,” said Hunt.

“She just has that in-depth knowledge about how to get to that level.

“In January we did a training camp in Qatar and in nine days I shot about 3,000 arrows. So the workload has gone up.”
