Ivorian forward Gervinho scored for Parma to secure a 1-0 win at Sassuolo in Italy’s Serie A on his return to action on Sunday.

The former Arsenal player missed Parma’s last five matches partly because he was ordered to train alone earlier this month after missing a number of training sessions in a bid to push through a move to Qatari club Al-Sadd.

But he was allowed to return to training with the team last week after he apologised.

“On Gervinho I believe that when you make a decision you have to reset and start again,” the Parma coach Robert D’Aversa said before Sunday’s game., external “All that has happened is now in the past.”

DR Congo international Meschak Elia has been given provisional authorisation by Fifa to play again, while his contract dispute with his former club TP Mazembe and the Swiss club Young Boys who he signed for, is being looked into.

The 23-year-old was banned last November from all football-related activity by the DR Congo FA after he was accused of falsifying his age to win a contract with Young boys.

At the time he said he considered the decision to suspend him as “null and void” because he was never given the opportunity to be heard. He insisted all allegations against him were false.

TP Mazembe confirmed the news of Fifa’s decision on their website on Friday. , external

Former Cameroon coach Hugo Broos has had a claim for damages against the Cameroon Football Federation (Fecafoot) rejected by a Fifa Players’ Status Committee.

But Broos, whose contract was terminated in December 2017, has been awarded the 143,300 euros in unpaid wages he said the country’s football authority owed him.

Broos led the Indomitable Lions to a surprise triumph in the tournament in Gabon at the start of 2017. A poor performance at the Confederation Cup in Russia followed by failure to qualify for the 2018 World Cup led to his dismissal.

He turned to Fifa as he fought for compensation plus interest of 5% per year from 21 December 2017 as well as payment for his legal costs.

“The judgment dismissed Hugo Broos of all of his claims, including his main claim for damages for the alleged wrongful termination of his contract. Fecafoot owes him only his salary arrears, established the single judge of the FIFA Players’ Status Committee,” Fecafoot said in a statement., external (By Oluwashina Okeleji)
