Bristol City shattered Everton’s post-derby optimism with a 2-0 away win in the Women’s Super League.

The home side beat Liverpool in their last outing but were handed their seventh league defeat of the season.

Ella Rutherford broke the deadlock in some style on 65 minutes, volleying a diagonal to the left side of the penalty area past Kirstie Levell.

Katie Rood made sure for City in the last minute when she fired past Levell with the defence beaten.

Everton had chances, notably through Chloe Kelly, but visiting goalkeeper Sophie Baggaley made some vital saves.

Bristol City stay seventh, but Everton are in ninth, just two points off the bottom of the table.
